Prairie Sky Circus

There’s a new group of circus artists in town! Well, ok, they’ve been doing this for years now. Six dedicated Winnipeg circus artists have come together to form Winnipeg’s newest circus production company. Prairie Sky Circus is the brainchild of Jessica Marsh, Carla Cerceau, Jamie Normand, Becca, Hillary, and Venus, and is an all-female team including Indigenous, Metis and LGBTQIA+ members.

Aerial performers, artists, teachers, and enthusiasts, they are excited to share their passions with our prairie city, connect with new audiences, and inspire new circus practitioners. Formed in Prairie Circus Arts’ supportive space, they hope to show Winnipeg the depth and innovation of circus arts in our city.

Carla Cerceau has been performing and teaching in Winnipeg for over a decade. For Carla, circus is “Freeing. Circus arts combines the passion of movement and creativity, and is an outlet for me no matter what else is going on. Hoop is where I centre myself.” Her teaching partner Jamie Normand says “Teaching aerial hoop fills me with joy. It’s a dance of strength and grace, where every twist and lift reflects not just physical skill, but the power of growth and
transformation. Watching my students defy gravity and discover their own potential reminds me why I love this art so much.”

Hillary started her circus journey in Edmonton, and now performs and teaches aerial silks and aerial rope at Prairie Circus Arts. “Circus can be anything you want it to be - it’s a treat for all of the senses. Come laugh, be shocked and surprised, be awed and impressed and immerse yourself within the impressive acts of Untamed.”

Jessica Marsh has an in-person and online pole fitness teaching business, “I’m excited about our mission at Prairie Sky Circus; to provide a stage for local circus artists. There are so many talented local circus performers in our city, but so few opportunities for us to showcase our art.”
